Fly Away presents a progressive, sequential teaching model that uses an innovative and interactive approach to the butterfly stroke. It adapts moves from ballet, gymnastics, and track and field to help develop and refine stroke technique. Rhythm, body awareness, stroke relaxation, and body undulation are also emphasized as key teaching or coaching points. The video presents the following in simple to complex movement sequences:
Body position and undulation
Arm action
Breathing action
Leg action
Body streamlining
Turn-finish action
Special refinements for specific body parts, limbs, and movements.
Thirty-five years of personal teaching and coaching expertise in swimming, gymnastics, and track and field provide Monika E. Schloder a wealth of personal knowledge in instructional methodology.
