Total Alkalinity Control is used when pH levels fluctuate widely over a short period of time. To keep pH level stable and chlorine working effectively, total alkalinity readings should measure 100-120 ppm. To increase the total alkalinity level by 8 ppm, add 1 pound per 7,500 gallons of pool water.
