FANTASTIC WATER WORKOUTS
Book on Fantastic Water Workouts by MaryBeth Gaines Pappas.
Fantastic Water Workouts contains 90 water exercises that are fun, effective, and easy on your body. All of the exercises in this complete aquatic workout guide make creative use of water’s natural buoyancy and resistance to give you maximum results with a minimum risk of injury. Because the exercises are adaptable, they can be used by anyone--they’re excellent for the ordinary exerciser who wants to add variety and fun to a workout and for exercisers with special health concerns.

While many exercise programs feature repetitive actions that work only one part of the body, the exercises in Fantastic Water Workouts are designed to involve the entire body. You can achieve total-body fitness as you perform these exercises that:

  • Strengthen and tone muscles
  • Improve aerobic endurance
  • Increase muscle flexibility
  • Improve body composition

In Part I of Fantastic Water Workouts, you’ll learn the basic information you need to get started on a safe and enjoyable water exercise program, including how to prepare the best workout environment, how to protect yourself from injury, how to use equipment to enhance your workout, and how to select appropriate music for your workout.

In Part II, you’ll find general water exercises for flexibility, aerobics, and muscle strengthening and toning. Using illustrated, step-by-step instructions, the book shows you how to perform 90 different water exercises and explains the benefits of each one. You’ll also learn how to warm up properly and how to cool down after exercising.

Part III shows you how to design a water exercise sequence that’s right for your particular body type, health condition, and exercise goals. For example, you’ll find tailored workouts for exercisers with special needs, including:

  • Cardiac recovery patients
  • People with arthritis
  • People with chronic neck and back pain
  • Pregnant women
  • Older adults.

Plus, if you are looking for more advanced exercises, Part III presents two kinds of intensified exercises: aquapower (push-off moves that build strength and aerobic intensity) and plyometrics (jump training techniques that raise aerobic intensity and challenge your muscles).

So try the new and challenging water exercises in Fantastic Water Workouts. They provide a safe and fun way for anyone to get in shape!
