A key to improving one's technique and stroke efficiency is to improve hip rotation. The strength and rate of an individual's hip rotation determines the power and timing of their stroke. Swimmers that do not have a balanced hip rotation will, in turn, have an unbalanced stroke, resulting in a waste of energy, with one side of the body performing most of the work.
Designed for swimmers who want to improve stroke efficiency, the Hydro Hip provides resistance training to build power for hip rotation. The Hydro Hip consists of a belt and two small fins that protrude from it, intended to be worn around the swimmer's waist. For use in freestyle or backstroke, one size fits all. Waist strap is adjustable.
Training with the Hydro Hip builds rotational muscles for a quick and powerful hip rotation that naturally increases efficiency and speed. Optimum results occur once the Hydro Hip is removed and the force of resistance is eliminated. At this point, hip rotation occurs faster and distance per stroke increases.
