Maryland Swimming Pool Rules and RegulationsÂ
Regulations for the State of Maryland for commercial swimming pools dictates the required safety equipment, pool rules signs, safety signs as well as various other traditional construction and safety regulations related to swimming pools.Â

Notes: | The Maryland COMAR 10.17.01.04 requires distinct wording on their No Lifeguard sign which must be posted at semi-public pools or public spas that do not have a lifeguard on duty. Pool rules must be posted at the entrance. Most commercial swimming pool rules signs will comply with the Maryland rules as long as they incorporate all common safety and health regulations required for swimming pools. |

- Rescue Pole 12' Required
- Ring Buoy 18" Life Ring Buoy Required
- Throw Line 1/4" diameter, 50' required
- Depth Markers In feet, at waterline on wall and on deck. Slip resistant. Deck shall be within 18 inches of the water edge. Installed at maximum and minimum depths and all points of slope change. Installed inermediate increments of water depth not to exceed 2 ft. nor greater than 25 ft. Arranged uniformly on both sides and both ends of pool.
- Rope & Float Line Provided between 1-2 ft. on shallow side of break in grade between shallow and deep portion. Position marked with visible floats at not greater than 7' intervals.
