Underwater swimming can be fatal. All swimming should be done on the surface of the water. Young children should be watched at all times. Many young swimmers have drowned while their parents stood only feet away. When a qualified lifeguard is present, all gates and doors should be closed and latched. If a qualified lifeguard is not present, all swimming pool entrances should be locked.
