Tennessee Swimming Pool Rules and Regulations
Regulations for the State of Tennessee for commercial swimming pools dictates the required safety equipment, pool rules signs, safety signs as well as various other traditional construction and safety regulations related to swimming pools.

Notes: | Tennessee’s Health Rules specify No Lifeguard on Duty signs in 4 inch lettering height which are to be posted where no lifeguard is available or required. Most commercial swimming pool rules signs will comply with the Tennessee rules as long as they incorporate all common safety and health regulations required for swimming pools. |
Required Equipment for Public Pools
Safety Equipment Notes
- Ring Buoy 18" Life Ring Buoy Required.
- Throw Line 1/4" diameter, 1.5x pool width not to exceed 50 feet.
- Depth Markers Marked in feet on both sides and at each end, at maximum and minimum depths of the pool. IN WHOLE FEET increments, except across shallow area and corresponding deck area. Marked to the nearest 1/2 ft. Spaced at no greater than 20’ apart. ANTI SKID DECK.
- Rope & Float Line At or before the 5’ depth area separating shallow area and deep area. Wave pools excempt. 3/4” rope with floats no more than 5 ft. intervals.
