Washington Swimming Pool Rules and Regulations
Regulations for the State of Washington for commercial swimming pools dictates the required safety equipment, pool rules signs, safety signs as well as various other traditional construction and safety regulations related to swimming pools.

Safety Equipment Notes
- Rescue Pole 12' Required with double Shepherds Crook every 1500 square feet
- Ring Buoy 18” Life Ring Buoy required.
- Throw Line 50' throw line required.
- Depth Markers Vertical Wall minimum of 2” numbers. Horizontal deck, 4”. Includes Wading P. Placed at maximum and minimum depths and at all points of slope change. spaced at increments of 2 ft. or less, at horizontal intervals of 25 ft. or less, arranged uniformly on both sides and ends of pool. Placed on major shape changes. ANTI-SKID on deck. In FEET. In feet or inches for wading.
- Rope & Float Line Placed 1 ft. toward shallow end away from break point line, provided floats a minimum distance of every 4 ft. Not required if pools with uniform slopes not exceeding 1 ft of slope for every 12 ft.
- Spineboard If lifeguards on duty.
- Rescue Tube For lifeguards. Lifeguards may also use a ring buoy instead of tube.
