So you only need one bag of FilterBalls to replace 100 lbs. of sand. It makes changing the filter media so much easier than sand.

FilterBalls work by trapping material like pollens, dead skin, hair, body oils, and other unwanted particles. They remove particles down to 15 microns whereas sand only goes down to 25-45 microns. When it is time to clean the system, the normal backwash process will release the trapped debris from the filter balls and flush it from the tank.
