If you manage a commercial pool, you already know how much time and labor goes into keeping it clean. A commercial robotic pool cleaner takes the floor, walls, and waterline off your staff's plate entirely. it runs nights and weekends, costs about 10 cents per cleaning cycle in electricity, and filters debris down to 2 microns while it works!

Aquabot's commercial lineup includes four cleaners built for very different facilities. Choosing between them comes down to one question - how big is your pool? Of course, there are a few practical considerations after that, so let's take a look at how the Magnum Jr, Magnum, Gemini, and UltraMax stack up.

Magnum Jr: The Compact Workhorse for Pools Under 50 Feet

The Magnum Jr is the right-size choice for pools found at most hotels, schools, universities, YMCAs, and health clubs. Its compact body and 100-foot kink-resistant cable will easily handle pools up to 50 feet in length. With the AquaSmart System mapping your pool, it methodically cleans rather than wandering at random.

You get four cleaning programs, an LCD control panel, and a wireless 4-directional remote for spot-cleaning problem zones. Setup is plug-and-play, meaning all you have to do is place it in the water and push a button. When the cleaning cycle ends it shuts itself off conserving electricity (and your utilities!).

One note: the Magnum Jr ships with PVC brushes, which work well on most surfaces but are not recommended for tile pools. If your pool is tiled, step up to the Magnum.

Choose the Magnum Jr if: your pool is under 50 feet, the surface is concrete or another non-tile finish, and you want commercial-grade cleaning at the lowest price point in the lineup.

Magnum: Mid-Size Power with All-Surface Brushes

The Magnum gives operators of mid-size commercial facilities the features of Aquabot's wide-body cleaners in a more manageable package. It covers pools up to 80 feet with it's 120-foot cable, typically cleans floor, walls, and waterline in 3 to 5 hours.

The big upgrade over the Magnum Jr is the Super Grip PVA brushes, which grip slippery surfaces: tile, fiberglass, stainless steel, painted concrete, and vinyl. It also steps up to a large-capacity filter bag, covering 52.5 feet per minute as it scrubs!

Choose the Magnum if: your pool is in the 50–80 foot range, or your pool is tiled or has another slick surface that demands PVA brushes.

Gemini: Built for Olympic-Size Aquatic Centers

The Gemini is a wide-body commercial cleaner designed for 50-meter Olympic pools. Dual drive motors and a dual pump motor circulate 60,000 gallons of water per hour, and it covers 70 feet per minute — cleaning a full Olympic pool in as little as 6 hours and a junior Olympic pool in about 3!

The AquaSmart System with Gyro Navigation maps the pool, cleaning it in a measured, systematic pattern, which means less wasted motion and less wear and tear on the unit. It carries two bottom-loading fine filter bags, a zero-depth air sensor, infrared obstacle detection, and an Auto-Start Delay System. Available with PVA or PVC brushes to match your surface.

Choose the Gemini if: you run a competition facility or aquatic center with an Olympic-size pool and want systematic, mapped coverage with high-capacity dual filtration.

UltraMax: Maximum Power for the Largest Pools

The UltraMax is the most powerful cleaner in the lineup, built for extra-large and Olympic pools up to 148 feet (45 meters). It moves 9,600 gallons per hour through two XL filter bags — twice the filtering power — and the AquaSmart Gyro system continuously recalculates the optimal cleaning path for any pool size, shape, or surface.

It's also the most programmable: set 3, 4, or 6-hour cycles, you can even delay the start by 2 to 5 hours so it cleans overnight after closing. A beach-entry (zero-depth) sensor and infrared detection let it handle complex pool geometry, and the included UltraKart trolley makes moving the 117-pound unit manageable for one person!

Choose the UltraMax if: your pool pushes past standard Olympic dimensions, has a zero-depth entry, or you simply want the most filtration and programmability available.

The Bottom Line

Match the cleaner to your pool length and surface, and you can't go wrong: the Magnum Jr for pools under 50 feet, the Magnum for pools up to 80 feet or any tiled pool, the Gemini for Olympic-size aquatic centers, and the UltraMax for the largest and most complex pools.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do commercial robotic pool cleaners climb walls?

Yes. All four Aquabot models — the Magnum Jr, Magnum, Gemini, and UltraMax — clean pool walls and the waterline in addition to the floor, using direct-contact brush scrubbing. Each includes a wireless remote so staff can steer the cleaner to specific zones that need extra attention.

How much does a commercial robotic pool cleaner cost to run?

About 10 cents per cleaning cycle in electricity. Because a robotic cleaner is self-contained, it also reduces load on your main filtration system and cuts the staff hours spent manually vacuuming — typically the largest real cost of pool cleaning at a commercial facility.

How long does a cleaning cycle take?

Three to five hours for the Magnum Jr and Magnum, and three to six hours for the Gemini and UltraMax, depending on the program selected. The UltraMax can also delay its start by 2 to 5 hours, so it can be set before closing and clean overnight.

What's the difference between PVA and PVC brushes?

PVA brushes grip slippery surfaces — tile, fiberglass, stainless steel, painted concrete, and vinyl — making them the right choice for most commercial pools. PVC brushes suit standard concrete surfaces but are not recommended for tile. The Gemini and UltraMax are available with either; the Magnum ships with PVA and the Magnum Jr with PVC.

What size pool does each model handle?

The Magnum Jr covers pools up to 50 feet, the Magnum up to 80 feet, the Gemini Olympic-size 50-meter pools, and the UltraMax extra-large pools up to 148 feet (45 meters). Cable lengths range from 100 to 150 feet to match.

Can a robotic pool cleaner run unattended?

Yes. Setup is plug-and-play: place the cleaner in the water, press a button, and it maps the pool, cleans it systematically, and shuts itself off when the cycle ends. Filtration captures debris down to 2 microns, and an automatic air sensor shuts off the unit if it leaves the water.
